Finally, Distress 303

As promised, tinting photos, playing with paint dabbers and distress ink and a few final techniques. You might recognize the little girl crying with Santa from Tim Holtz´s the 12 Tags of Christmas this year. It was so cute I had to use it again. Feel free to bring a detailed stamp with you to class because we´ll create our own ink pads and while Iĺl have plenty of detail stamps there, you get to take the ink pad home and it helps if you have the matching stamp!! In the samples above it is the bird cage ATC stamp on the tag and the little cards.

The March Class dates are posted on the right; you don't need to have taken Distress 202 to take this class, and although taking Distress 101 would help, you can get by without it - these are pretty different uses of the inks. Would love to see you there - we´ll have fun!

Tim Holtz Cards for Card Class

These are the cards and tag for the first Tim Holtz card class at Scrapbooks Too on Thursday, April 8th. We will be using the Spring Spring set and the At The Movies set.

I went with a bright spring tag to chase away those winter blues and a White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland for the Spring Spring set. The tag has an Ideology token, a grungepaper butterfly and a fun paint technique for the background. I snuck the clock stamp from the Going Somewhere onto the White Rabbit card along with a spinner and fastener. It needed a little movement!

The first card from the At the Movies set features Graphic45 paper, Ideology film strip and some Sizzix dies. I´ll show you how to attach the filmstrip to paper if it has been a challenge for you. It would be a beautiful Father´s Day card for an old movie buff, a great birthday card or a just because card for any film fan. The second card is bright and cheery in primary colors - would be a fun card for a kid who loves movies, a party invite or a cute gift holder for a pair of movie tickets! Itś not the typical distress look, but the stamps are so versatile and I wanted to show you another fun look!

I will have one set of stamps and inks there, but if you own them, please bring them so fewer people are sharing one set. A blending tool with foam pads and a basic class kit would also be a good idea! This is the Distress Ink list: Old Paper, Vintage Photo, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Stormy Sky, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade. I used Jet Black, Olive, Cobalt and Crimson Archival Ink. Even if you only have a few of the distress inks if you bring your own, it will save you and everyone else time!!

One more piece...

Here's the final piece for the die/technique class...had to get a little stamping in there! One of these days I'll figure out the camera/scanner issue. This is embossed in gold pearl...quite beautiful, hard to see in the pic.

Yea! The Stamps are in - New Classes Added!

The new Tim Holtz stamps arrived yesterday and the first class is scheduled for Thursday, April 8th at both 1pm and 6 pm. Also on Sunday the 11th! Wendy's stamps arrive tomorrow and the first class for that is Monday, April 19th at 1pm and 6pm. The weekend class is set for Sunday, April 24th. I'll be furiously making samples in the next few days and as soon as they are done, I'll get them posted.

In the meantime, I've added a techniques class using a few of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies. It will be on Sunday, March 21st at 1 pm. We'll do a little crackle painting, a new embossing technique and work with Claudine Hellmuth's studio multi-media. Here are pictures of what we'll create:
The butterfly with a couple of extra wings....

A grungepaper, dictionary page flower - made using multi-media.

A keyhole plate - maybe from an old dresser.....

And finally, a keyhole plate - perhaps from an old door....

A few new dies, some new techiniques, some fun....

Stay tuned for card class and Distress 303 samples!

Distress 101 and 202

I'm teaching both Distress classes on Sunday...not quite back to back....I need a little break to rest my voice. We cover all the basic ink techniques in 101 and in 202 we practice the inking and add embossing, crackle paints and stickles! I don't have pics of the individual tags but here are two photos of the display boards for the classes.

You sort of get the idea. I'm not sure about the glare in the second photo, the flash was off, must be the sun reflecting off those #8 shipping tags! If we're lucky the last 6 new colors will be in stock by Sunday and we can try those too!

We are adding an "Intro to Stamping Class" called Rubber Room Basics. I'll explain the 3 types of stamps, 5 basic types of ink and we'll make 3 cards, a bookmark and a tag to learn about 10 basic techniques. Wow, all that in 2 hours! Here are photos of the projects we will complete.

Cat stamp from Lost Coast designs, word and background stamp from Studio 490 collection.
"D" stamp from Stampers Anonymous.

Sun Swirl stamp from Stampendous...this is a cheery card, just had trouble photographing it.

Bird stamps from 7 gypsies, crow border from Lost Coast and word stamp from Studio 490.

Last but not least, a little bookmark to practice stamping on vellum!
