AI with a Floral Twist....

OK, the color is a little rough...I finished the samples at 9 at night and rushed them over to the store, without taking any pics. OOPS...so Allie kindly took a picture with her i phone ...you can at least get the idea!

Iris (see post below), big red and yellow dahlia with a brand new technique, the purple one on Ten Second Studio metal...fun way to play, the daffodil because it was cheery and flowers and butterflies...perfect for summer. One card is stamped with a Mother´s Day sentiment, but I will bring birthday, thinking of you and other assorted greetings!

And I have added a class...in addition to Sunday, May 1st from 12:30-2:30 and Tuesday, May 3rd from 6:00-8:00pm, it will be offered on Wednesday, May 11th from 10:30-12:30 for those of you who prefer weekdays.

Stop by the store and see the sample board to see the cards in real life...I think you will like them!

Vintage Card Class

with a touch of Steam Punk tossed in!

4 cards and a tag....

First the SteamPunk! I couldn´t resist - somehow the new Graphic 45 and the Ten Seconds Studio just called for a little humor. Don´t like the heart? You could put a bird in your cage...no problemo!

Little hard to see, but the tag uses the large Book Cover stamp as well as the new fleur de lis movers and shapers. I am often asked ¨why tags?¨ ¨what am I supposed to do with it?¨ ok, here is my why...it is a nice surface to work on, it is a good size, there is a lot of freedom in working on them ...you do not have a big investment in them so it is easy to experiment and see what you come up with! what do yo do with them? lots of different things....use them as bookmarks, use them as an element on a scrapbook page - put journaling on them if you wish, make them the focal point of a card, swap them with other tag fans, use them as a gift tag, mount a themed group on a canvas, just collect them....you get the idea...whatever you want to do!

Needless to say, when I say this stamp set i fell head over heels for it. He had me at Paris. Or perhaps the butterflies....there are lots of color ways you could go here, but I love the warmth of the wild honey....

Dusty Concord remains one of my favs and I love the backwards script stamps....we will do the embossing folder trick with these cool stamps and make the fluffy flower. I will admit to being addicted to the tissue flower. Ever since I learned how to make them about a month ago, they are showing up on everything I make!

´
And always it seems, a little sewing theme. We will make the little needle book and you can write secret messages in it! The ric rac is Vintage...the spool is from the 40´s or the 50´s and I have so much I can share! Good chance to try the resist and glassine papers if you haven´t had the chance yet.

Hoping you can join us for the inky goodness....

Sunday, April 17th from 12:30-3:00 or Tuesday, April 19th from 6:00-8:30 pm.

And the winner is....

Jessica!!!

I think I will save the postage and bring your treats to the next class you take!!!
Thanks to everyone who follows this blog!

Thank you! Anniversary Party!

OK, it has come to my attention that I have been teaching and blogging for over a year now, so I should throw a party! As many of you know, remembering to blog and posting pictures are a challenge for me...which is a problem when you are blogging about artsie things where pics are key! Well, I am always trying to improve and one of these days I will have it all figured out! In the mean time I am going to give away a little blog candy to one of my followers. Lots of you tell me you check out my blog, but you don´t actually follow it. That needs to change, so I am resorting to blog candy...LOL...hey, whatever works.

Here is a picture of what one of my followers will win....let´s make this quick...anyone who becomes a follower by next Sunday night, April 3rd, will be eligible to win. Ok, you can´t tell by the picture what you are winning??? Let me spell it out...Dusty Concord Distress Ink, Re-inker and Stain, 12 #8 tags, 6 of Tim´s new little hangers, about 10 yards of red and white bakers twine and about 20 yards of brown and white bakers twine, and a stamp. Yes, a stamp. To be more precise, a Stampers Anonymous butterfly stamp. It is a couple of years old but it does coordinate nicely with Mr. Holtz´s new butterfly stamps...I somehow ended up with two of them and I think I should share the wealth.

Tag Tuesday March 22, 2011

Thank you Louise for doing the Tag Tuesday challenge - it was the only challenge I ever participated in and although I rarely had time to do it I often checked what everyone else was doing and really enjoyed it! And thank you to Rebecca for taking it over at Blog Challenge Garden. To help make sure the new challenge gets off to a good start I decided I had better participate! So here is a spring tag...

Let´s see if I can remember what I did....since I did half yesterday and half today, I am not sure I will get it all, but I will try....and now that I look at it, I am not sure there is any stamping on it, although there is a lot of paint and ink...LOL...please forgive me....I tried!

First, I covered the tag with Spun Sugar Distress Stain and edged in copper paint. I then trimmed the flowers from a cocktail napkin and applied them to the tag with wax (which actually ended up coating the whole tag by the time I was done). I attached a butterfly I punched from a scrap with the Martha Stewart Monarch punch and a dragonfly and a copper Spring piece from the new K&Co collection. It is finished off with a snippet of silk ribbon. Thanks for visiting and I love comments if you have the time! And you might want to check out my Anniversary post, also from today. ¨I´m just sayin´¨ as Wendy would say....

Vintage Card Class - April

Art Journaling 303

This week! Tuesday midday, 11:30-1:30 and Saturday, 10:30-12:30. We will stitch our cover, make UTEE charms and embellishments and have an introduction to wax. If you missed the second session, you are certainly welcome to this session, just make sure you have done anything you need to do to your pages before binding (like die cutting or punching them!) so that you can finish the structure of the book.

Alcohol Inks with a Twist of Easter

OK, you need to use your imagination a little on this one.....imagine the pink printed piece is adhered to a square yellow card base! Paper by We ´r Memory and stamps by Stampendous.

Sorry the glare is a little bright, but it was tricky catching the shred in the basket....and guess which Tim Holtz Sizzix die this is! Punch by Martha, Stamps by Stampendous and paper by We ´r memory.

A new Sizzix embossing folder...some liquid pearls...and a lot of purple ink....

polka dots are always fun....stamps by Stampendous, paper by We ´r Memory

Tim Holtz stamps....and an unknown egg stamp...

Class on Thursday night, April 6th from 6:00-8:00 and Sunday, April 3rd from 12:30-2:30.

Friends Canvas

This 9x12 canvas was designed to feature a 4x6 or 5x7 photo of you and your best friends....or your sisters....or even your family. I will bring a stamp that says sisters and one that says family in addition to the friends stamp.

Here is a close up of the butterfly which I seem to have been using a lot lately...

And here is a close up of the dress form, mini mini mini rosette, angel wings, et. al. I must have been die happy the day I made this! I count 6 on this canvas!

Things to bring to class: Tea dye or vintage photo distress ink and a blending tool, juniper and gold paint dabbers, your photo(s) and your scissors and beacons of course!

Class will be held in both Bloomington and Rochester! At Scrapbooks Too on Thursday, April 14th from 6:00-8:30 and Sunday, April 10th from 12:30-3:00. At VIP Scrapbooks on Sunday, March 27th from 11:00-2:00.

Vintage Card Class

A few new techniques, a valentine or two, and some inky goodness....2 of them based on Mr. Holtz´s 2010 12 Tags of Christmas....but now with a non Christmas theme! The printed paper is Cosmo Cricket - just love this line! I hope you can join me on Thursday, January 27th or Sunday January 30th at Scrapbooks Too or on Sunday, January 23rd at VIP Scrapbooks in Rochester!

This design based on one of the 2010 Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas and tweaked just a bit, makes a nice card....or mount it on a piece of chipboard for a little decor...

Valentine goodness....hard to see, but the pocket holds about 6 little valentines which we will stamp and or emboss....then you could write notes to your sweetie on the back of them....or not...next time maybe I will remember to take photos of ALL the pieces....LOL.

I did remember the inside of that card...gold embossed with a Tim Holtz Valentine stamp.

Based on a tag, but a love twist....simple, but a card a guy might like...and the inside has a little more stamping:

And finally, the bird design from Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas modified to fit a card and a mini rosette...just love those!

Santa

did
not
bring
me
a
camera
for
Christmas
this
year.

Maybe next year. So I continue to struggle with the point and shoot and turning off the flash and the glare from the metallics in these cards. I think I have to take a class or something soon! In the meantime, here are bad pics of the great cards in this week´s Alcohol Inks with a Twist of Winter Class. They are beautiful in real life, the pics just do not capture it very well. At least you can get a sense of where we are going on this newest adventure. And there are several new techniques in this class, so join us on Thursday, the 12th from 10:30-12:30 or 6-8 pm or Sunday, the 16th from 12:30-2:30. Or in Rochester on Sunday, January 23rd from noon-2.

ok, you are wondering what this has to do with winter....well, I would like to spend my winter in Paris....and the colors fit in with this group!

fun new technique on these snowflakes....

try them on a new material...

have taught this technique in an advanced embossing class, but not an AI class....

these two techniques are from the Tim Holtz 2010 12 tags of Christmas series....adapted for a winter, rather than Christmas card. would make a fun birthday or blizzard card. Maybe we should start sending cards everytime there is a snow emergency!!

hope to see you there!
